You managed to nail most of the reasons Boba Fett is an icon in your video, but you did miss a couple. When Luke is sneaking through the corridors of Cloud City, Artoo comes up behind him and beeps. Boba not only hears, but correctly interprets this sound, doubling back and taking Luke by surprise by ambushing him! Undoubtedly knowing Vader wants Luke alive (even Lando knows this), he takes only a couple of potshots at him, but those are enough to keep Luke pinned in the corridor for a time, unable to follow Fett.

The other big point: Right before Han accidentally hit Boba's jet-pack, the latter was drawing a bead on Luke with his wrist lasers, having missed one shot from being shaken. If you look back at that scene, you'll see Luke was fully engaged deflecting the blaster bolts of everyone on the skimmer craft he was on; he wouldn't have been able to twist his light saber to block a blast from Fett's direction. So he was about to kill Skywalker when disaster struck.

I understand why most fans are disappointed by how Fett's end came about, but I always saw it somewhat differently than they did. To me, it was an illustration of how the heroes were actually unable to defeat Fett themselves! He would have killed Skywalker and finished off the others . . . if not for pure, dumb luck (or perhaps the will of the Force). You simply can't foresee or prepare against that kind of ill fortune, another illustration of the old adage that, "It's better to be lucky than good" (or rather the best, in Boba Fett's case).

Last point, Han's idea to escape the Star Destroyer "Avenger" really was pretty clever, so much so that even Leia admitted, "You have your moments. Not many, but you do have them." To then realize immediately thereafter that, smart as Han was, Boba Fett was smarter still, certainly makes you respect him.

Editor's Note: The decision making of the empire outlined in this video, is the kind of thinking that the true perpetrators of 9/11 engaged in. Do the ends justify the means is the question. The answer is no. However, the chaotic criminal degeneracy of individuals (many of which likely later become members of the rebel alliance or resistance) that tears at the fabric and order of civil society are just as much to blame, if not more. All that has to be done by them to stop the cycle, is to calm down and be happy with the balance of the force. This imperfect, unfair, world. Because it's not utopia, but it's not hell. Hell on Earth exists. Heaven on Earth does not. Star Wars has always been trying to teach us a very important lesson. Yes, I understand the joking nature of this, but despite the perhaps opposite intentions, there is still some food for thought.

I know this video is a joke but i dissagre calling empire evil. Empire really had a lot of flaws but they werent that much of bad guys as movies like to tell us,most of stormtroopers werent evil and joined just because they wanted to protect their home planet or local town from monkey sized kanibals attacking the area. Empire did a really good job protecting loyal sistems,but just them. Its stupid how they used logic "If they are not whit me they are my enemy." Also slavery was a thing and lot of other horrible things. But it wasnt directly "bad guys" they were protecting people and tried to keep peace and stability in galaxy. Rebels did a lot of horrible things too as some killing impereals that surrendered ,blew up 2 massive space stations whitout letting to surrender and launching a masive stations into the air whit hundrets of thousands people in it like we see in rebels. And lot more horrible stuff than that. I am not saying empire were the good guys as it was run by a sith lord. And rebels too werent the good guys. It is just more complicated than that. Both of them had cons and flaws. Also in legends or old canon the empire wanted to protect from Usan vong invasion that later on actually happend and many died becuse rebels stopted the empire and New Republic didnt have a good milatary

The distribution of money spent by Star Wars fans is not equal, and if you ignore the long tail - those fans who spend large amounts of money, you may be harming the value of your franchise, even if you sell more movie tickets.



The rub is that poorly received movies will impact on overall sales, including the hardcore fans - those few people that may spend up to $1000 on merchandise per year will dial back their purchases. You will end up with collectors only targeting original movie products, or items from when George Lucas was in charge, and then ignoring all the newer products. Thus the overall value of the franchise is diminished.

Just as it’s obvious that if Han Solo and Chewbacca were U.S. citizens they’d be voting for Donald Trump, so it’s a no-brainer that in Britain they’d be rooting for UKIP.

This is what I argued on BBC’s Daily Politics show yesterday in response to a New Statesman piece by left-leaning journalist Stephen Bush. According to Bush, the Star Wars series is essentially a celebration of “the left-wing values of solidarity and collective action”.

Hmm. The only bit of Bush’s convoluted thesis I agree with is where he describes Han and Chewie as “a pair of sole traders, equivalent to white van men.” Exactly. That’s why they vote for Britain’s nearest thing to the Tea Party: they are taxed enough already and just want to be left to get on with their lives, unencumbered by the depredations of the controlling monolith that is the Empire.

Given that Star Wars was written in the Cold War, I suppose the model for the Empire was the Soviet Union. Today, of course, its closest equivalent would be the European Union, only with one key difference: on their day, the Imperial Stormtroopers can be a pretty formidable and effective force, where  its EU equivalent – the European Army being proposed by President Jean-Claude Juncker – would be as crap as a platoon of transgendered Ewoks with their hands tied with rainbow ribbons and without the advantage of the forest which, as I dimly recall, is the only reason that stops them being as crap as they look.

Why would the European Union’s Imperial forces be as crap as a platoon of tied-up transgendered Ewoks with no arboreal advantage?

Well first because, unlike, say, the Fatherland or Blighty, a corrupt, amorphous, simultaneously insipid and toxic entity like the EU is not something for which any stormtrooper would consider laying down his life. And secondly because the German element would be too fat and pacifistic, the French would be too busy cooking five course lunches featuring ortolan and foie gras, the Italians’ AT-AT Walkers would only work in reverse, the Greeks would flog off all their kit to the Rebel Alliance, the Spanish would divide in factions and kill each other and the British just wouldn’t because we are NOT Europeans.

But I digress. There is really very little in Star Wars which offers much ideological comfort to those of a big government persuasion – big government being represented, after all, by a giant armoured orb, nudgingly named the Death Star, heralded with Wagnerian theme music – which crushes rebel planets by blowing entire civilisations including Princess Leia’s to smithereens and by tall evil men in black capes with advanced asthma or skin like a Gila monster’s.

There is, however, very much in Star Wars to suggest that ramshackle rebel alliances formed of shabby-looking, lovably eccentric, heroically determined social outcasts – see also: UKIP conferences; Tea Party rallies – may be our only hope against the growing tyranny of One Universe Government.

Obviously, we all want to claim Star Wars in support of our own political philosophy because it’s about the most famous film series ever and we’d all like to think of ourselves as being on the winning ideological team.

But I do think that anyone from the left side of the argument trying to claim Star Wars for their cause is on a losing wicket, the fundamental problem being that the Baddies in the movie series just happen to embody the very thing that lefties most adore, viz: the Leviathan of Big Government and the Goodies embody the very things that lefties most hate, viz: freedom, individual personality, inappropriate behaviour, crass but twinkle-eyed casual sexism (see Han and Leia who, of course, loves it really) etc.
